Senate Committee receiving submissions on the Sex Discrimination Amendment Bill 2013

21 March 2013

The Senate Legal and Constitutional Affairs Legislation Committee will inquire into and report on the Sex Discrimination Amendment (Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Intersex Status) Bill 2013.

The bill seeks to extend the protection from discrimination to the new grounds of sexual orientation, gender identity and intersex status. It also seeks to extend the existing ground of 'marital status' to 'marital or relationship status' to provide protection from discrimination for same-sex de facto couples.

The committee is due to report on 17 June 2013, and has invited written submissions to its inquiry by 26 April 2013. For more information on how to make a submission, visit the Senate Committee’s website
